The July 4 goal final took place on a very busy Lawns 3, on the 14th of July, seeing a thrilling game fought out between Stonehurst and Jera Polo.
Nick Clague (3) rode out at 1 for Stonehurst, with Ben Sim (1) at 2, Dominic Jones (0) at 3, and William Roberts (0) at Back. Ollie Hancock (-1) wore the number 1 shirt for Jera Polo, with Ralph Robson (0) at 2, Matt Evetts (3) at 3, and 2-goaler Harry Revell at Back.
The first chukka opened with two brilliant goals by Jones and a further by Clague to put Stonehurst ahead 3-1 at the end of the first. The second chukka saw more of an even battle with a goal apiece by both sides to leave Stonehurst leading 4-1 going into half-time.
Great play in the third saw both sides advance by 2 goals each, seeing Jones score both for Stonehurst and Hancock and Evetts score for Jera Polo. The last chukka witnessed huge efforts by Jera Polo to catch their components and despite another goal by Hancock it wasn’t enough to gain on Stonehurst, who took victory 7 goals to 4.
William Roberts stepped forward to collect the July 4 Goal Cup of Corrinne Jones. The X-Zony Best Playing Pony Rug was presented to ‘Hebe’ played and owned by Nick Clague.
