Cooch Behar presented to La Dolfina Great Oaks 

A sunny day on Ambersham 3 saw La Dolfina Great Oaks (LD Great Oaks) take on UAE Polo Team (UAE), Infront of a packed crowd on a sunny Ambersham 3.  

Dillon Bacon (2) rode out at 1 for LD Great Oaks, with Kian Hall (3) at 2, Diego Cavanagh (8) at 3, and 9-goaler Adolfo Cambiaso Jnr at Back. H.H. Sheikha Maitha (0) wore the number 1 shirt for UAE, Lucas Jnr Monteverde (7) at 2, Teodoro Lacau (7) at 3, and 9-goaler Tommy Beresford (8) at Back. 

The fiercely fought game saw great play from both teams, however LD Great Oaks took victory over the reigning Gold Cup champions 11 goals to 6. The first two chukkas saw very equal play by both teams with a goal apiece in the first by both Backs and a further two for both teams in the second, leaving the score on 3 all going into the third. A push by LD Great Oaks saw them pull away in the third with 4 goals by Cambiaso, Bacon, and Cavanagh, leaving the score 7-4 going into half-time.  

In the second half a rested LD Great Oaks continued to pull ahead with further goals by Cavanagh in both the fourth and fifth, while strong defence from the rest of his team prevented any goals by UAE, taking LD Great Oaks into the last ahead 9 goals to 4.  The last chukka saw a final push from UAE to try and close the gap, with a goal by Beresford and Lacau, however it wasn’t enough to stop the skilled LD Great Oaks side who continued their goal-scoring streak, seeing a final two goals by Cavanagh and Hall. 

The LD Great Oaks team stepped forward to collect their prizes from Tasha Hipwood, with Bacon collecting the Cooch Behar Cup from Philippa De Pass. The Cowdray Vikings Best Playing Pony Rug was presented to ‘Foxy’ played by Lukin Jnr Monteverde.
