The August Bank Holiday weekend kick-started with the Lodsworth Village Cup Final on Saturday the 23rd of August, seeing Truth take on JamJars Polo in a thrilling 4-goal final at Ambersham 5.
Riding out at 1 for Truth was Ruth Leland (-1), with Tom Leland (0) at 2, Harold Hodges (3) at 3, and Alec Banner-Eve (2) at Back. Alyaa Jamaludin (-1) wore the number one shirt for JamJars Polo, with Bella Lavinia (1) at 2, Mariano Dalponte (2) at 3, and 2-goaler Milly Hine at Back.
The first chukka opened with a well-taken 60-yard penalty by Hodges in the opening minutes, quickly followed by another. Tom Leland completed the hat-trick in the closing moments, leaving Truth ahead 3-0. The second chukka followed a similar pattern, with Hodges adding two more field goals. A well-executed safety-60 by Lavinia finally put JamJars on the board, but they still trailed 5-1 at halftime.
JamJars returned with a vengeance in the third chukka, producing an unbelievable comeback. Hine and Lavinia each scored twice before Dalponte struck under pressure just before the buzzer to edge JamJars into a 6-5 lead. With everything to play for, both sides gave it their all in the final chukka, but strong defence on both ends kept it goalless, sealing a 6-5 victory for JamJars Polo.
A delighted Alyaa Jamaludin stepped forward to receive the Lodsworth Cup from her sister Adilla Jamaludin. The X-Zony Best Playing Pony award went to Nugget, played by Milly Hine, owned by Fabio Lavinia, and cared for by groom Miguel Rodriguez.
