Sunday, 22nd June saw the conclusion of the Jersey Lilies 6-goal final, with Gould taking on Jamjars Polo in a fiercely fought final on Ambersham 2.
Riding out at 1 for his Gould side was George Gould (0), with Brigitte Boher (0) at 2, Jack Aldridge (2) at 3, and Jimmy Wood (4) at Back. In the green shirts for Jamjars Polo, Alyaa Jamaludin (-1) rode out at 1, with Mariano Dalponte (2) at 2, Catalina Lavinia (2) at 3, and Milly Hine (2) at Back. Jamjars started with a half-goal lead due to handicap differences.
The first chukka saw very dominant play from Gould, with an opening 40-yard penalty conversion following an early foul by Jamjars. A brilliant breakaway goal was seen next by Aldridge, assisted by Wood following a penalty save. Gould continued this momentum with two further field goals by Wood and Aldridge in the final minute, leaving the score at 4-0½ going into the second. The second chukka saw a change in pace by Jamjars, with strong teamwork preventing any further advancement by Gould, in addition to an accurately converted penalty 2 by Hine, leaving Jamjars chasing 1½-4 going into halftime.
The third chukka kickstarted with a skilled team goal by Jamjars, finished by Hine. However, a couple of costly fouls by Jamjars gave Gould the opportunity to continue their goal tally with a successful spot hit and a 60-yard penalty taken by Wood, leaving Gould leading 6-2½ going into the last. The final chukka opened with another brilliant goal by Aldridge from a distance, but Jamjars were not letting victory slip away, with a brilliant comeback featuring a skilled goal by Hine and a couple of under-pressure field goals by Dalponte. However, it was too little too late for Jamjars, with Gould emerging victorious 7-5½.
A delighted George Gould stepped forward to receive the Jersey Lilies Cup from Millie Grimshaw. With the X-Zony Best Playing Pony Rug being presented to Emperatriz played and owned by Catalina Lavinia.
