Saturday the 14th of September saw the conclusion of the final 4-goal of the season with HB Lions taking on FWP & Hoes Farm, on a busy Lawns 3.
Dominic Jones (0) rode out at number 1 for HB Lions, with Hugo Baldwin (0) at 2, Mariano Dalponte (1) at 3, and 3-goaler Nick Clague at Back. For FWP & Hoes Farm (FWP), William Millard (2) wore the number 1 shirt, with Rufus Burrell Thompson (0) at 2, Finn Jones (0) at 3, and Rufus Uloth (2) at Back.
FWP kickstarted the game with a goal by Uloth, however Dominic Jones quickly responded to earn HB Lions a place on the scoreboard. Another goal by Uloth left FWP leading 2-1 going into the second. A push by HB Lions in the second chukka saw them equalize with a goal by Clague and good defensive play by the team, taking both sides into halftime with 2 goals apiece.
The third chukka saw additional goals by Clague and Millard, however a couple of costly fouls against HB Lions meant both Finn Jones and Millard successfully converted penalties, allowing FWP to pull ahead 5-3 going into the last. FWP continued their brilliant teamwork in the final chukka with strong defence to prevent HB Lions from catching, and a fantastic goal by Millard to cement victory 6-3.
The delighted duo of Rufus Burrell Thompson and Finn Jones stepped forward to receive the Park House Cup from Lila Millard. The X-Zony Best Playing Pony Award was presented to Pudding, played and owned by Rufus Uloth. ented to ‘Norma’, played by Peter Webb.
