A closely fought Easebourne Cup Final on the 1st June saw Strategic Help for Heroes come out victorious over Maiz Dulce.
Peter O’Rorke (0) played in the number 1 shirt for Strategic Help for Heroes, with Ben Sim (1) at 2, 4-goaler Ollie Cork at 3, and Matt Evetts (3) at Back. Giselle Barfoot (0) wore the number 1 shirt for Maiz Dulce, followed by brothers Noah Hyde (1) and Alfie Hyde (3) playing at 2 and 3, with Bautista Sorzana (4) playing at Back.
An action packed first chukka saw Strategic Help for Heroes take an early lead with Cork scoring the opening two goals followed by a further one from teammate Sim, however two late goals from Alfie Hyde ensured Maiz Dulce were still in contention. The second chukka saw continued attack from both teams, resulting in a goal for both sides from Cork and Noah Hyde. However, after a half time break Strategic Help for Heroes came back with force scoring two goals, credited to Cork and Evetts. Despite this Alfie Hyde continued to fight for Maiz Dulce scoring another goal, leaving Strategic Help for Heroes with a 6-4 lead going into the final chukka. Despite continued efforts by Maiz Dulce in the fourth and another goal by Alfie Hyde, it wasn’t quite enough to overcome the strong defence and teamwork of their opposition, leaving Strategic Help for Heroes victorious with a final score of 6-5.
The prize giving, held at Ambersham Clubhouse, saw Peter O’Rorke step down to collect the Easebourne cup from Pamela Sorzana. The X-Zony Best Playing Pony rug was presented to Annie, owned and played by Ollie Cork.
