TYRO CUP FINAL – Sunday 9th May
Seven teams entered the first 12 goal of the season, The Tyro Cup.
The first Final of 2021 saw Millie Barfoot’s, Maiz Dulce, take on Stephanie Haverhals’s, MJVH Polo on Ambersham 1 in thankfully dry although rather windy conditions. Maiz Dulce were first onto the scoreboard following two consecutive goals scored by John Martin wearing the Number 3 shirt. James Harper scored the first goal for MJVH to finish the first chukka 2-1 in favour of Maiz Dulce. James Harper continued on a goal scoring spree during the second chukka to put MJVH into the lead by 4 goals to 3 by half time. The third chukka ended with just a goal in it at 6-5 in favour or MJVH after both teams added two goals each to the score board. Nick Clague scored the two final goals of the match for MJVH to put them ahead of Maiz Dulce by two goals with a final score of 8-6.
The X-Zony Best Playing Pony rug was awarded to James Harper’s Coruba.

MAY SPRING 4 GOAL – Saturday 15th May
Four teams entered the first 4 goal of the season in competition for the Spring Cup.
The Final took place on Ambersham 5 where one of Cowdray’s newest patrons, Peter O’Rorke, and his team Strategic Help for Heroes took on Hoes Farm. Hoes Farm gained the upper hand from the get-go in an open game. Several missed opportunities by Strategic Help for Heroes and goal by Boyd Alan out of the first line out put the score at 1-0 to Hoes Farm at the end of the first chukka.
Boyd Allen scored again in the second chukka with Strategic Help for Heroes still unable to get onto the scoreboard. Hoes Farm widened their lead to 3-0 in the third chukka with Niall Donnelly converting a 30-yard penalty. In the last chukka Matt Evetts converted a 30-yard penalty to put Strategic Help for Heroes onto the board, however Rufus Burrell Thompson responded with a runaway field goal to secure the win for Hoes Farm with a final score of 4-1.
The X-Zony Best Playing Pony rug was awarded to Letitia, owned and played by Wilf Fine.

BARRETT CUP – Sunday 16th May
Four teams entered the first 8 goal of the season at Cowdray, The Barrett Cup.
The Final took place on Ambersham 5 in testy wet conditions between Millie Barfoot’s Maiz Dulce and Lila Pearson’s Cowdray Vikings. John Martin scored the opening goal to put Maiz Dulce on the scoreboard first, however Cowdray Vikings had the upper hand by the end of the first chukka after successfully converting two penalties.
Maiz Dulce came out strong in the second chukka scoring three unanswered goals between Jimbo Fewster and Fred Thame. A field goal each by Maiz Dulce’s John Martin and Cowdray Viking’s Ed Hitchman put the score at 5-3 to Maiz Dulce at half time. Cowdray Vikings were able to equalise in the third chukka with two unanswered field goals by Ed Hitchman. Neither team were able to score in the fourth and final chukka which took the game into extra time with a score of 5 apiece. Henry Fisher successfully scored a 60-yard penalty to win the game for Cowdray Vikings in the extra chukka.
The X-Zony Best Playing Pony rug was awarded to Apache, owned and played by Henry Fisher.
