GOULD WIN THE JUNE 4 GOAL CUP

Six teams entered the Club’s second 4 goal contest, the June 4 Goal Cup, with Gussie Gould’s Gould meeting Marco Vignali’s La Dulce Vita in the Final on Ambersham 1 on the afternoon of Sunday 19th June.

In a relatively low scoring game and with a scoreless opening chukka, both teams were persistent in defence at the start of the game. Josh Cork was first to score during the second chukka to put La Dulce Vita first onto the board. Gould were still unable to find the goalmouth as the whistle blew to mark the end of the first half on a score of 1-0 in favour of La Dulce Vita.

Following the half time break, Angus Rowan Hamilton scored to give La Dulce Vita a two-goal lead. However, this was short lived as Jimmy Wood found form, scoring twice to even the score by the end of the third with the board reading 2-2. Gould found the upper hand as the fourth chukka got under way and it was Wood who came through again to score twice, with La Dulce Vita unable to respond by the final bell.

With a final score of 4-2, Gussie Gould stepped down from the podium to receive the trophy. Bianca, played and owned by Jimmy Wood, was presented with the X-Zony Best Playing Pony rug following her performance in the fourth chukka.
