In the 8 goal Barrett Cup, Lila Pearson’s Cowdray Vikings team met Andrew Swaffield’s Alcedo in the Final. For Cowdray Vikings, Lila Pearson played at number 1, Jack Taylor (1 goal) at number 2, Byron Watson (3 goals) at number 3 and Ed Hitchman (4 goals) at Back. Alcedo saw Andrew Swaffield (-1) in the number 1 position, Will Harper (0) at 2, Nick Clague (3) at number 3 and James Harper (6) at Back.
Cowdray Vikings made a confident start and were 2½-0 up at the end of the first chukka. However, a goal apiece from Nick Clague and Will Harper, and three from Harper Senior saw a reversal of fortune with Alcedo ahead 5-3½ by half time. Cowdray Vikings fought back hard in chukka 3 which closed with just half a goal between the sides, but young Will Harper put an end to the Vikings’ hopes of victory with two goals in the final chukka, and a hat trick of goals for the match, to give Alcedo their first win of 2017 on a final score of 8-6½.
