Eight teams entered the last 4-goal tournament of the 2021 season, The Park House Cup. Los Hamblinos and Eleven/Los Gatos both secured places in the Final which took place on Ambersham 2 on Sunday 12th September.
Los Hamblinos were first onto the scoreboard when Eleven/Los Gatos fouled to give away a 40-yard penalty hit which Harry Muddle successfully converted. Los Hamblinos held onto their advantage only momentarily as a determined Alfie Hyde, despite putting the ball wide on two occasions, managed to score twice. Los Hamblinos had a couple of chances to regain control, however attempts at goal went wide and Muddle missed a 60-yard penalty opportunity. The score at the end of the first chukka was 2-1 to Eleven/Los Gatos.
Muddle levelled the score again at the start of the second chukka as Eleven/Los Gatos fouled to give away a 30-yard penalty opportunity to Los Hamblinos. However, Alfie Hyde scored his third field goal of the game for Eleven/Los Gatos with teammate Nicolas San Roman scoring from a Safety 60 and following up with a goal from the field. Harry Muddle also found the goalmouth for Los Hamblinos towards the end of the chukka, producing a score of 5-3 in favour of Eleven/Los Gatos at the end of the first half.
It was Alfie Hyde to score again for Eleven/Los Gatos at the start of the third, however not giving his opponents the chance to retain their three goal lead for long, both Harry Muddle and young Leo Stuart scored consecutive goals for Los Hamblinos to put them back within one. However Nicolas San Roman found his opponent’s goalmouth once again to give Eleven/Los Gatos a two goal lead heading into the last chukka with a score of 7-5.
Alfie Hyde scored his fourth goal of the match for Eleven/Los Gatos at the start of the fourth and final chukka. Charlie Tighe then scored for Los Hamblinos, however despite further attempts by Harry Muddle and Rufus Uloth, Eleven/Los Gatos retained the upper-hand to win the Park House Cup with a final score of 8-6. The X-Zony Best Playing Pony rug was awarded to Dolfina Naftalina played by Nicolas San Roman and owned by Adolfo Cambiaso.
