Nine teams entered the Club’s fourth 4 goal tournament of the 2021 season. Henry Lunn’s team BBBB took on Victor Chua’s Mansfield Advisors in the Final on Ambersham 3 on Sunday 15th August.
BBBB dominated from the outset scoring two unanswered field goals in the first chukka, the first from 0-goaler Sam Wisbey and the second a successful attempt by Henry Lunn. Catalina Lavinia made an attempt for Mansfield Advisors, but the ball went wide. The chukka ended on a score of 2-0 to BBBB.
BBBB continued strong in attack into the second chukka and saw Alec Banner-Eve score his first goal of the game, putting his team ahead by three goals. However, BBBB then fouled to give away a 30-yard penalty opportunity to Mansfield Advisors which Alfie Hyde successfully converted to put his team onto the scoreboard. Ollie Cork then found the goal to score for BBBB to regain their three-goal lead. Catalina Lavinia made a successful shot at goal to put Mansfield Advisors back within two, however Cork then scored again to end the chukka 5-2 to BBBB.
Despite an early field goal by Sam Wisbey, the third chukka saw a number of fouls committed by BBBB. However, Mansfield Advisors were only able to capitalise on one opportunity where Alfie Hyde successfully converted a 60-yard penalty. Hyde and Catalina Lavinia both missed chances to score to close the gap and Cork scored the tenth goal of the game. The chukka ended 7-3 to BBBB.
With a comfortable four goal lead, the fourth chukka proved goal-less for BBBB who also gave away a spot hit to Mansfield Advisors which was converted again by Alfie Hyde to put the score at 7-4 to BBBB. Fabio Lavinia attempted to score however the ball went wide. With the score unchanged, the final whistle blew with BBBB the victors. The Lodsworth Village Cup was presented to Henry Lunn and the X-Zony Best Playing Pony rug was awarded to Lovelocks Shimmer, played and owned by Ollie Cork.
